HOW ABOUT

articles from this book, like

Colligan, Colette: Anti-Abolition Writes Obscenity: The English Vice, Transatlantic Slavery, and England's Obscene Print Culture.

or

Sigel, Lisa Z.: The Rise of the Overly Affectionate Family: Incestuous Pornography and Displaced Desire among the Edwardian Middle Class. :I

I could copy pages and send them to you if they're not available online.

Also, re death meme, I have this? Not sure I ever read the whole thing (shame, I know), but it might be worth picking out the Bataille or Lawrence chapter, for example.

I also have this essay collection on masochism, but it's a mixed bag tbh. I can look it through some time, if we run out of other reading.

Part VII looks the most interesting to me at first glance, yes!

And Anne McClintock, Imperial Leather. Only the first part, though, "Empire of the Home." The rest is interesting too, but not so relevant to fandom studies.

Re: suggestions for future reading
I always enjoy reading things that relate to fandom as a cultural phenomenon. At the moment I'm interested in the canon/apocrypha divide - I will try to dig up a bibliography I had about apocrypha again.

Also http://www.amazon.com/The-Age-Beloveds-Early-Modern-European/dp/0822334240 was a pretty interesting read and had a footnote about fandom as a space in which women write erotic materal (on the background that it's usually a male domain iirc) that made me sit up.
